THIS EVENT IS IN THE BOOKS!
The DOUGLAS COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE once again sponsored their annual fundraiser at CVI on Sunday, February 18, 2018. As always, it is a sold-out affair! Sheriff Joe Arpaio, "America's Toughest Sheriff," was the keynote speaker. Sheriff Joe has had a long and decorated career in law enforcement before being elected to Sheriff of Maricopa County, the 3rd largest Sheriff's Office employing over 3400 people. Sheriff Joe kept us in stitches with his off-the-cuff dry sense of humor. It was an evening of glitz and glamour with furs and spectacular gems of all styles adorning our female attendees. The Program featured local merchants and candidates running for the upcoming elections. Then, there are the local DC residents who bought ads encouraging our President, Donald J. Trump. The event started with the Presentation of Colors by Douglas High School JROTC and the National Anthem trumpet solo, performed by Skyler Bunn also of Douglas High. Thank you both. The Dinner, started with a spinach/mushroom salad drizzled with a sweet vinaigrette that whet our appetite before the main fare. Sauteed split shrimp accompanied by a grilled steak with sides of mashed potatoes and steamed whole carrots and asparagus rounded out the main platter. Dessert was a gourmet version of a slice of Boston cream cake. Capping the meal was a special glass of sweet liqueur from the strategically positioned stations of adult beverages. CVI servers, chef and staff, as always, were efficient and courteous. The Live Auction was conducted by multi talented Senator James Settelmeyer, with help from Assemblyman Jim Wheeler A special thanks to: Axelson Tactical for their donation of a Axelson Blue Line Series Axe Patrol Rifle. William Furs of Reno donated a Natural Ranch Mink Coat and A Blush Fox Jacket. Black River Outfitters donated an Uruguay Dove Hunt for Two and Uruguay Dorado Fishing Trip for Two. Two Nights Lodging, dinner and show tickets were donated by Harrah's Lake Tahoe. Debbie Hockaday donated a Hand Made Native Nevada Necklace. John Alves Photography donated three beautiful photographs of Carson Valley And to everybody that put an ad in the program or gave up a bottle of wine or spirits or donated a gift for the your choice raffle. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. If you missed this year's event, be sure to pen a similar date in 2019. It was an evening of fun, laughter and good food! |
