Republican Philosophy

I am a Republican because I believe:

  1. That the strength of the nation lies in an individual’s dignity, freedom, ability, and responsibility.
  2. That equal rights, justice, and opportunity must exist for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age, or disability.
  3. That free enterprise and encouragement of individual initiative have brought, and will continue to bring, this nation opportunity, economic growth, and prosperity.
  4. That government must practice fiscal responsibility so that our monetary system is sound so individuals can keep more of their earnings.
  5. That the proper role of government is to provide only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and to promote an environment of opportunity that allows an individual to flourish.
  6. That the most effective, responsible, and responsive government is one that is closest to the people and which governs the least.
  7. That Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while continuing to develop new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of the future.
  8. That Americans value and preserve life as well as our way of life through a strong national defense and must continue to share peace, freedom, and human rights throughout the world.
  9. That the Republican Party is the best vehicle to translate these principles into the government envisioned by the Founding Fathers.
